太極拳
TAIJI BOXING
山東 尹千合著
by Yin Qianhe of Shandong
[circa 1958]
[translation by Paul Brennan, Dec, 2015]
–
[This book seems to have been written around the same time as Yin’s Baduanjin and Taiji Sword books, though it was not formally published. There was obviously a serious initial intention to publish, since the trouble was taken to produce photos, though it is not clear that it was ever even completed as a manuscript, and we have been left with only a “chapter fourteen”.
We can only speculate as to what the other chapters might have been. We could reasonably assume he would have used the same prefaces that appear in his Baduanjin and Taiji Sword books, a table of contents, a list of the posture names, and the same orientation chart from the Taiji Sword book. We can also imagine he would have included a potted history of Taiji and some discussion of Taiji theory. But we are left to wonder if any of the chapters would have dealt with pushing hands or showcased the Taiji classics as so many other Taiji books do. Thankfully the main section of the book remains.]
